How does it work?
The Austin Air HealthMate Plus® specializes in the reduction of harmful chemicals, noxious gases,
VOCs, formaldehyde and sub-micron particles for individuals in the most contaminated settings.
Austin Air’s 360-degree intake system draws air into all sides of the HealthMate Plus®, passing it
through a unique 4-stage filter.
The filter has a true medical grade HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Arresting) filter surrounded
by a blend of potassium iodide-impregnated carbon that is mixed with zeolite. The potassium iodide
additive helps to deliver greater filtration of chemicals and gases, including Volatile Organic
Compounds (VOCs). The HEPA filters 99.97% of all particles down to 0.3 microns in size.
Consequently, this combination of filter media provides improved relief in highly contaminated air
spaces for those who are severely sensitive to chemicals.
How long does the filter last?
Because it utilizes 60 sq. ft. of medical grade HEPA and up to 15 lbs of activated carbon and zeolite, the Austin Air HealthMate Plus filter is designed to last up to five years under normal residential conditions.

What is the difference between the HealthMate and the HealthMate Plus?
Both the Austin Air HealthMate and HealthMate Plus use a combination of activated carbon, zeolite, and medical grade HEPA in their filters. However, the HealthMate Plus uses an activated carbon that is impregnated with potassium iodide, which is designed for better adsorption of specific chemicals such as formaldehyde. Therefore, the HealthMate Plus may be a better option for those exposed to wildfire smoke or chemical disasters.
