Yet it seats four adults in real, full-temperature Finnish heat, with 40mm of thermo-treated pine, Alder benches that stay cool to the touch at 180°F, and a blacked-out tempered glass door that reads more like architecture than equipment.

Assembly Steps
Choose & Prepare the Location
Select a flat outdoor area with adequate clearance on all sides. The sauna must sit on a level, stable base such as a concrete slab, deck, or compacted gravel. Plan for proper drainage depending on placement.
Unbox & Inspect
Lay all panels out on a flat surface and verify components against the included parts list before starting assembly.
Assemble Base, Walls & Roof
Build the floor frame on a level surface and install bitumen strips under the legs to prevent ground moisture contact. Assemble the labeled wall boards, then install the roof underlayment and shingles.
Install Door, Benches & Vents
Mount the tempered glass door, attach the Alder benches and backrests, and complete the interior with ventilation covers and flooring.
Licensed Electrician Connects Heater
The sauna requires a dedicated 240V circuit connected to a GFCI breaker. Breaker size depends on your heater. A licensed electrician should complete this step according to the manufacturer's wiring diagram.
Run the First Heat Cycle
Keep the door open during the first heat. A mild break-in smell from the heater and wood materials clears after one session.

Rain, snow, sun, the freeze-thaw cycle that destroys lesser saunas, no annual sealing required, no special coatings, no fragile components. And the same construction choices that make it survive outside also make it feel like a real Finnish sauna inside, not a hot box dressed up in wood.
Thermally treated wood resists moisture absorption, warping, rot, and fungus naturally. No chemicals required. Heat treatment drives out the resin and locks in dimensional stability.
Bitumen square shingle roofing protects against rain, UV exposure, and snow load. The same roofing system used on cold-climate cabins.
Elevated foundation with bitumen separation strips prevents ground moisture from ever reaching the structural wood.

Thermo Pine — 40mm Walls
The exterior walls, roof structure, and base frame are built from thermally treated pine. Heat treatment at high temperatures drives out moisture and resins, making the wood dimensionally stable and resistant to rot, fungus, and insect damage. No chemicals.
Alder — Interior Benches
The two-level benches are crafted from smooth Alder. Alder has low thermal mass, meaning it heats up quickly without becoming uncomfortably hot to the touch. That's a key reason it's one of the most used bench woods in sauna construction.
Black-Painted Accents
The base frame, external moldings, front and back wall arches, and door frame are finished in black, giving the Black Cube its signature bold aesthetic. Treated with Teknos Aqua Primer and Visa Base 3 for long-term exterior protection.
Maintenance Guidance
Interior surfaces should be treated with sauna-grade oil or lacquer (Tikkurila Supi Laudesuoja for benches, Teknos Helo Aqua 40 for doors and thresholds) before first use, then once or twice annually to extend service life.
